Archiving Against Erasure

We’re honoured to welcome three powerful voices to Archiving Against Erasure — an evening of reflection on memory, resistance, and the role of archives in the context of genocide. This event stems from Elshareif: an exhibition honouring Palestine, reflecting on the absence of the original copies of Mohammad Elsharief’s artworks due to Israel’s systematic destruction of Gaza.
Nadine Hura (Ngāti Hine, Ngāpuhi, Pākehā) – is a writer whose work weaves together literature, social policy, and environmental justice. A māmā, poet, and essayist, her writing has appeared in The Spinoff and E-Tangata. She is also a member of Taraheke Press, with her debut essay collection Slowing the Sun (BWB, 2025) forthcoming.
Tendai is a Zimbabwean–New Zealander curator, writer, and Kaihautū Director at Enjoy Contemporary Art Space. His research centres on artists’ film and video, with a focus on Black, Indigenous, and diasporic practices.
Amanda is a Pākehā academic who works in Environmental Studies at Te Herenga Waka Victoria University. She is part of University Workers for Palestine, a collective that is working to get retirement funds held by UniSaver divested from Israeli genocide and apartheid.
This evening of rich kōrero will be hosted by our collaborator, organiser, and curator — Erina.
Together, they’ll kōrero how archiving can act as a tool of resistance against erasure.
